Can Framis is the latest museum from Fundació Vila Casas. It opened in Barcelona in April 2009, with around 300 works on display dating from the 1960s onwards.
This building, which houses a museum today, was once a textile factory built at the end of the 18th century and owned initially by the Framis family. Nevertheless, it fell into disuse over the years and became a monument to the area's industry.
In honour of what the building once was, Can Framis now keeps a beautiful commemorative wall from the old factory that presents many old materials and textures. The museum showcases this by mixing history with modern art in a fun combination of textures.
This old building now hosts many local artists whose pieces they eagerly gave a home to, from permanent exhibitions to temporary innovative, fun ones. Can Framis museum is a must-visit for art enthusiasts!
